Driving from Victoria, BC to Yellow Point (90 minutes direct):

Leaving Victoria, travel north on Highway 1. The route takes you over the Malahat. If you have time, stop at designated points of interest along the way for incredible views.

Point of interest: Goldstream Park is about 10 minutes out of Victoria on your right and is worth a stop if you have time. See massive trees, majestic waterfalls and a meandering river that is famous in the fall for the annual chum salmon spawning run. It draws thousands of salmon, and visitors, every year. Bald eagles swoop down and devour the bodies of the spawned out salmon.

Continue on Highway 1 and you will arrive at Duncan, City of Totems (about 45 minutes from Victoria). It is fun to shop in Old Town Duncan.

When you see the sign Chemainus, you may want to take a detour to this quaint little town that is famous for its murals. Antique shopping is fun in and around this area. Then get back on Highway 1 to Ladysmith, especially known at Christmas for its amazing lighting display. About 10 minutes past this town watch for a green sign on your right that says Yellow Point and Cedar. Take this turn-off and you are on Cedar Road.

Follow this road for about six minutes and then turn right on Yellowpoint Road at the corner gas station/market store. Follow this delightful hilly and winding country road for about 10 minutes, especially beautiful when the leaves turn a multitude of colours in the autumn. You will come to the end of the road and a sign that says Yellow Point Lodge. Do not turn in here. Follow the main road as it takes a sharp bend to the left. You will then see the sign for Inn of the Sea on your right. Turn in here at Tillicum Lane and enter the parking area (parking is included with rental rates). Instructions for your unit of accommodation will follow upon completion of booking and administration.

Driving from Nanaimo, BC to Yellow Point (20 minutes direct):

Leaving Nanaimo, avoid taking the first Cedar Road exit (large sign). Follow Cedar Road for about six minutes (past a rural school on your left) then turn right at Yellowpoint Road (Husky gas station and market on your right). Follow this delightfully hilly and winding country road for about 10 minutes, especially beautiful when the leaves turn a multitude of colours in the autumn.
